One of the things I like about my job is the various kinds of work Bazan Painting does as a commercial and industrial painting contractor. This was brought to mind as I was driving back to my office today and saw a semi- truck and trailer hauling a large amount of our equipment away from the shop and toward Bagnell Dam for a very interesting job for Ameren Electric.
Recently, at the Painting & Decorating Foundation fellowship banquet, Bazan Painting Company received three different awards in the Finishing Touch contest for one of our projects. That project was the repainting of the Kenrick-Glennon Seminary Chapel of St. Joseph . One of the awards we received was 3rd for Drywall Taping, which was really taping of the 12×12 acoustical panels on the ceiling of the chapel. We were given a 2nd place award for Commercial Painting, though I am told the judges wanted to call a tie for 1st place with another very deserving project at Grace Church. It was ultimately decided that there are no ties in life (I don’t necessarily agree with that), but we are honored with the 2nd place award.
However, this project at Kenrick-Glennon did receive a Special Effects 1st place award for some of the fine painting that was done. Our foreman Rick Chambers did an excellent job, overcoming many obstacles and complications. He did so well that the architect from Washington D.C. has added us to his preferred contractors list. This may bring us more potential work, and because of this, we are actually budgeting a project up in Minnesota .
I am proud of the work that our craftsman accomplished. It may not always be as beautiful as the Kenrick-Glennon Chapel, but it is always just as important. The piping we sandblast and paint for a pharmaceutical company, which perhaps makes medicines that our loved ones use, is just as valuable. The work we do painting water towers and wastewater treatment plants is every bit as necessary to keep our drinking water safe and our standard as living as well as it is in this great country.
Our thanks to the Painting & Decorating Foundation for these awards in the Finishing Touch contest. I continue to look forward to all the diverse work that we do as a commercial and industrial painting contractor.
